Located near Luang Prabang, in a charming countryside surrounded by lush mountains, is the Living Land center.
This center is an eco-responsible place that promotes environmental sustainability, ecological rice farming, and the development of the farmers’ well-being. It’s a fair, healthy, and globally responsible approach to rice cultivation that will help you uncover all the mysteries of the most emblematic cereal of the region.
You will discover all the stages of rice cultivation, from ploughing to harvesting, sowing, and transplanting… You’ll even be offered to get your hands dirty while experiencing the works of the farmer.
Rice cultivation will hold no more mysteries to you!
You will also be able to visit the center’s large Vegetable Garden and learn about the center’s community project and social enterprise developed over the past few years.
Lunch will be served in a traditional house overlooking the rice fields for a peaceful moment of connection with the nature and land that provides us with vital resources.
Then continue this little expedition to the Khouang Sy falls.
The falls is a magical place of cascading streams, green luxuriant forest, and clear blue waters, perfect for a nice swim. It’s a place of exceptional beauty that seems to be straight described from a fairytale woodland.
Besides being a visually idyllic place for tourists, it’s a peaceful shelter for the collar bears rescued by the NGO Free the Bears. The volunteers work to provide a sanctuary for the collar bears, an endemic Lao species.
This tour is the perfect interlude to experience beautiful sightseeing and learn about ecological matters.
