Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang

Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Free time to relax or begin your exploration of Luang Prabang. Late afternoon, enjoy a sunset cruise on the Mekong River, a smooth arrival for a great start.

Day 2: Discovery of the former royal capital
Stops: Luang Prabang
A day dedicated to discovering Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A small town with a unique and timeless atmosphere. The former royal capital and cultural center of the country, recognized as the best-preserved city by UNESCO, you can wander the cobbled streets lined with centuries-old temples, monasteries, and pretty colonial houses. Free evening to explore the night market and perhaps enjoy a second glimpse of its illuminated Royal Temple.

Day 3: The Crystal Clear Waters of Kuang Si
Stops: Luang Prabang
Day outside the city, en route to the Kuang Si Waterfalls. You will take a road through the countryside and its rice paddies, towards its crystal clear waterfalls. Visit a Black-Crowned Night Bear reserve in the park, then have the opportunity to swim. You will discover a turquoise waterfall with a series of pools where you can bathe.

Day 4: Meet the Elephants
Stops: Luang Prabang
It is in the heart of this small haven of peace that the majestic giants of the Laotian forests have found refuge, far from logging and abuse. The elephants are pampered and cared for by a team of enthusiasts working to preserve the species.
Meet this emblematic animal before setting off on a jungle trek to the Tad Sae Waterfalls.

Day 5: Discover Laotian Local Life
Stops: Luang Prabang
Be sure to stop at the Pak Ou Caves, a sanctuary that has housed Buddha statues left by pilgrims for centuries. Then, immerse yourself in a small traditional Laotian village nestled on the banks of the river. Observe local life and their various fruit crops, then take a short canoe ride on the river. Enjoy meals and spend the night with a local family.

Day 6: Travel up the Nam Ou River to Nong Khiaw
Stops: Nong Khiaw
Walk through the local village to discover the local economic activities (weaving, fishing net making, embroidery, etc.), as well as the large teak and rubber plantations.
Before continuing your trip to Nong Khiaw via the peaceful Nam Ou River.

Day 7: Adventure to Meet Ethnic Groups
Stops: Muang Ngoy, Nong Khiaw
Start your day with a boat trip of approximately 1 hour to reach Muang Ngoy.
This morning, you’ll hike through villages, where you’ll meet different ethnic groups of Laos, such as the Hmong and Kamu, and share daily life with them. A day of adventure off the beaten track awaits you.

Day 8: Heading to Oudomxay through ethnic villages
Stops: Muang Xay
This morning, take the road to the Oudomxay region. Along the way, we’ll stop at Hmong and Kamu ethnic villages, offering an opportunity to discover the typical local way of life and discover their crafts. We’ll continue to Namkat Yorla Pa National Park, located a few kilometers away in a preserved natural environment.

Day 9: Immersion in Namkat Yorla Pa National Park
Stops: Muang Xay
Free day at your hotel to enjoy its facilities as well as Namkat Yorla Pa National Park, a vast expanse of protected forest, and its activities (hiking, zip lines, hanging bridges, etc.).

Day 10: Vang Vieng and its mountain landscapes
Stops: Muang Xay, Vang Vieng
Resuming the journey towards Vang Vieng via the brand new train line. Crossing one of the most mountainous regions of Laos, this line, which features numerous tunnels and bridges, significantly shortens travel times.
The town of Vang Vieng is especially famous for the splendid karst landscapes that surround it, reminiscent of a terrestrial Halong Bay.
Enjoy some free time to explore the surrounding area at your own pace.

Day 11: Kayak trip and exploration of the surrounding area
Stops: Vang Vieng
Today’s program includes a short stroll through the countryside between karst cliffs, rice fields, and villages, a visit to one of the largest caves in the province, and a kayak trip on the river. This is an opportunity to explore the karst cliffs while taking in the fresh air.

Day 12: Vientiane, exploring the capital
Stops: Vientiane
Return to civilization; head to the capital, Vientiane, via the new highway.
You will begin your visit to the capital, with its most beautiful temples and its famous Arc de Triomphe. After exploring the north and its traditions, you will discover the modern side of the country with its developing capital.
Free evening to stroll along the banks of the Mekong and enjoy its nightlife.
