Day 1: Arrival in Luang Prabang
Stops: Luang Prabang
Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Free time to relax or begin your exploration of Luang Prabang. Late afternoon, enjoy a sunset cruise on the Mekong River, a smooth arrival for a great start.

Day 2: Discovery of the former royal capital
Stops: Luang Prabang
A day dedicated to exploring Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A small town with a unique and timeless atmosphere. The former royal capital and cultural center of the country, recognized as the best-preserved city by UNESCO, you can wander the cobbled streets lined with centuries-old temples, monasteries, and pretty colonial houses. Free evening to explore the night market and perhaps enjoy a second glimpse of its illuminated Royal Temple.

Day 3: Hike to the crystal-clear waters of Kuang Si
Stops: Luang Prabang
You will embark on a hike through the forest, which will take you to the Kuang Si Falls. You will discover a turquoise waterfall with a series of pools where you can swim. You can also visit a black-tailed bear reserve located within the park. Then, return to your hotel by road.

Day 4: Sailing on the Nam Ou River
Stops: Nong Khiaw, Luang Prabang
You will depart to reach the Pak Ou Caves, a sanctuary that has housed Buddha statues left by pilgrims for centuries. You will then stop at the Pak Gna Dam, where you will board a traditional boat. You will travel up the Nam Ou River to reach Nong Khiaw. Enjoy this peaceful moment on the water for a first glimpse of northern Laos.

Day 5: Hiking in the vicinity of Muang Ngoi
Stops: Muang Ngoi
Sailing to reach Muang Ngoi. Hike through the rice fields, discovering a cave that served as a shelter during the Indochina War, and exploring villages nestled among the karst cliffs.

Accommodation: Overnight at the Maison de Nong Khiaw (Nong-Khiaw)
Day 6: Heading to Oudomxay through ethnic villages
Stops: Nong-Khiaw, Khouèng Oudômxai
This morning, take the road to the Oudomxay region. Along the way, stops at Hmong and Kamu ethnic villages provide an opportunity to experience the typical local life and discover their crafts. Continue to Namkat Yorla Pa National Park, located a few kilometers away in a preserved natural environment.

Day 7: Immersion in the Namkat Yorla Pa Park
Stops: Khouèng Oudômxai, Luang Namtha
You will have free time to recharge your batteries in this magnificent setting; several activities are offered within the park. Afternoon transfer to Luang Namtha.

Day 8: First day of hiking
Stops: Luang Namtha
(Depending on your physical abilities, this 3-day hike can be adapted.)
A first day of hiking through the rice fields and mountains of the Nam Ha Nature Reserve; the guides will show you how to survive in the forest, teach you how to cook rice in bamboo containers and make tea with cardamoms. Overnight at the campsite.

Day 9: Hike to a Khmu Village
Stops: Luang Namtha
You continue the hike to a Khmu village, located on the banks of the Nam Ha River. Along the trail, local guides will demonstrate some of the ancestral techniques they use to hunt wild animals. You will arrive in Nalan, a village awarded the ASEAN Standard of Community Based Tourism 2018.

Overnight stay with a local, basic comfort.
Day 10: Last day of hiking
Stops: Luang Namtha
Last day of walking in the great outdoors along a river, before heading back to Luang Namtha. Arrival and check-in to your rooms.

Day 11: Vang Vieng and its mountain landscapes
Stops: Vang Vieng, Luang Namtha
Resuming the journey towards Vang Vieng via the brand new train line. Crossing one of the most mountainous regions of Laos, this line, which features numerous tunnels and bridges, significantly shortens travel times.
The town of Vang Vieng is especially famous for the splendid karst landscapes that surround it, reminiscent of a terrestrial Halong Bay.
Enjoy some free time to explore the surrounding area at your own pace.

Day 12: Kayaking and Exploring the Surroundings
Stops: Vang Vieng
Today’s program includes a short stroll through the countryside between karst cliffs, rice fields, and villages, a visit to one of the largest caves in the province, and a kayaking trip on the river. This is an opportunity to explore these karst cliff landscapes while taking in the fresh air.

Day 13: Relax in Vang Vieng and drive to the capital
Stops: Vientiane, Vang Vieng
Free morning in the area around the small town of Vang Vieng before an afternoon transfer to the capital, Vientiane.
Optional extra: Take to the skies to enjoy the view of the region’s rice paddies and karst cliffs from your hot air balloon at sunrise.
