After breakfast, embark on a venturesome road trip to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano of 1518-meter high. Approximately a 1.5-hour-drive away from Bagan, Mount Popa plays an important role in Burmese culture, religion, and history. It’s a pilgrimage site with numerous temples and relic sites at the top of the mountain.

You will pass many magnificent landscapes of fields scattered with sugar palm trees and colorful Sagawa trees. With five forest ecosystems, Mount Popa has a unique flora and wildlife, including an incredibly large assortment of butterflies, birds, bamboo forests, fruits, and a unique species of lizard. You will have the opportunity to visit a “”toddy””, a palm wine manufacturer, and taste this local delicacy.

Then, you will proceed to the sanctuary of TaungKalat dedicated to the veneration of the 37 Nats, the spirits venerated in Burma since antiquity.

For the more adventurous, take a climb up the 777 steps to reach the top, where you can take in the impressive view of the Myingyan meadow from the volcanic summit. You can also meet the friendly monkeys living there but remain very careful as they are still wild animals.

At the end of this adventurous day, it’s time to return to Bagan where you will be transferred to the dock for your sunset cruise on the Irrawaddy River. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery aboard a traditional teak boat. If the weather is clear, you can even see Mount Popa as far away as you are!
