Immersion in the daily life of a rural ethnic village
Visit a small traditional Lao village located 30 km from Luang Prabang where you will enjoy a day of cultural immersion and experience the daily life of the locals.
Upon your exploration of the village, you will discover different architectures based on the ethnic origin of their occupants and learn about their ancestral manufacturing arts.
The region is the original birthplace of saa paper and you will have the unmissable chance to witness the craftsman skills of the locals, weaving, embroidering, braiding, and transforming the mulberry bark cut to produce colorful papers. They also master various other agricultural activities like growing rice, teak and rubber plantation, and orchards.
Embarking a dugout canoe on the Mekong, you will learn how they are also skilled fishermen with their own fishing technics, and maybe even observe gold diggers at work!
Lunch will be served with the local villagers before return to your hotel in the late afternoon.
On the way back to Luang Prabang, you’ll have the possibility of shopping in the stores of Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xieng Lek: villages of weavers and Mulberry Paper Craftsmen.
