Day 1: Hello Luang Prabang!
Stops: Luang Prabang
Upon arrival at Luang Prabang airport, your private driver will be waiting to take you to your ideally located hotel in the historic center.
Enjoy this free day to recover from your flight or begin soaking up the serene atmosphere of this fabulous royal city and sample its gastronomic specialties.

Day 2: The Treasures of Luang Prabang, the Royal City
Stops: Luang Prabang
Bordered by the banks of the Mekong, the Nam Khan River, and lush hills, Luang Prabang is a true jewel of Asia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. By tuk-tuk, your guide will take you through its narrow streets to discover sumptuous colonial buildings, royal palaces, temples, and centuries-old pagodas. You’ll be amazed by the splendors before you and captivated by the unique atmosphere emanating from this cultural and spiritual center of the country of a million elephants.

Day 3: Kuang Si Waterfalls and the Caves of a Thousand Buddhas
Begin your day with a visit to the country’s most beautiful waterfalls, the magnificent Tad Kuang Si, with their immense natural pools of turquoise water. After lunch on a terrace overlooking the river, you’ll take a boat to the Pak Ou Caves, or Caves of a Thousand Buddhas, one of Laos’ holy sites located on the border of the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers. You’ll then head to the traditional wooden house of the Laotian family who will be hosting you for the night. This is an opportunity to explore the surrounding area and take a boat trip on the Nam Ou River.

Day 4: Muang Ngoi, a small fishing village in northern Laos
Stops: Nam Ou, Muang Ngoi
This morning, you’ll meet a net weaver and a basket maker. You’ll discover the traditional houses, the pagoda, and the village school. After lunch, you’ll travel up the Nam Ou River by boat, passing through the fabulous scenery of the karst cliffs while observing the peaceful rural life, all the way to Muang Ngoi. Discover this small, authentic village in northern Laos, accessible only by boat, with charming locals who have preserved their traditions.

Day 5: Rice Terraces and Hmong and Kamou Villages
Stops: Muang Ngoi
Today, a hike takes you off the beaten track, following the mountain trails of northern Laos. You’ll cross sublime landscapes of rice terraces, share lunch with a family in a small, remote village, visit a cave, and cross small wooden bridges and authentic ethnic villages.

Day 6: On the Nam Ou River, from Muang Ngoi to Muang Khua
Stops: Nam Ou, Khoa, Muang Ngoy
Enjoy a lazy morning relaxing on your hotel terrace, which offers breathtaking views of the Nam Ou River and the majestic surrounding Sugar Loaf Mountains. You can also visit the village and its pagoda, or embark on another hike. After lunch, you’ll continue your journey north aboard a private boat to Muang Khua, a small weaving village nestled in the mountains of northern Laos.

Day 7: From Laos to Vietnam, heading for Dien Bien Phu
Stops: Dien Bien Phu
Early in the morning, you’ll take a road that winds through the peaks of northern Laos, where you’ll encounter mountain Lao people at work in their spectacular terraced farming. On the Vietnamese side, your local guide awaits to take you on a visit to Dien Bien Phu, the famous scene of the grim battle that ended the Indochina War.

Day 8: In the heart of the spectacular mountains of northern Laos
As soon as you set off on the road that winds through the mountains, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the sublime rice terraces that carpet the region’s slopes. Arriving at your Mu Cang Chai eco-lodge, perched on a rocky peak, you’ll enjoy lunch overlooking breathtaking scenery, then set off on a first exploration of the surrounding area, which will take you to a traditional Hmong village.

Day 9: Hike in Hmong Lands
Today, you’ll hike along hillsides, amidst sublime rice terraces and through lush forests to reach small villages of the Hmong minority, the main inhabitants of these valleys. After sharing lunch with a friendly village family delighted to welcome you, it’s time to return to your ecolodge.

Day 10: Towards the Mai Chau Plain
Stops: Mai Chau
This morning, you’ll cross the sublime landscapes leading to the sumptuous Mai Chau Plain, renowned for its incredible natural scenery. Still surrounded by sumptuous landscapes, you’ll encounter mountain women in traditional Hmong costume, descend from peaks covered with terraced crops, cross rivers, and cycle along lakes to reach White Thai territory. There, you’ll explore the surrounding area by bike and immerse yourself in the local culture by staying with locals.

Day 11: Hanoi, a capital with a rich historical heritage
Stops: Hanoi
After breakfast, you’ll hit the road one last time through the lush valleys and plains of northern Vietnam as the rice paddies gradually give way to urban areas. Upon arrival in Hanoi, you’ll enjoy a local specialty at a popular restaurant before visiting the sublime Confucian Temple of Literature and the 36 Streets and Guilds District, Hanoi’s oldest shopping district and its colorful Dong Xuan Market.

Day 12: End of your Lao-Vietnamese adventure
Stops: Hanoi
Enjoy this free day in the Vietnamese capital to continue exploring at your own pace and as you wish, while soaking up Hanoi’s unique atmosphere one last time. Depending on your return flight schedule, your driver will take you to the airport, where you’ll board your flight with a head full of fabulous memories.
