BEGINNING OF SERVICES – Asia My Way
DAY 01 : BANGKOK – NAKHON RATCHASIMA - PHIMAI – NAKHON RATCHASIMA
Free lunch and dinner - night at Nakhon Ratchasima - 6.5h drive, 335km - international flight arrival in Bangkok before 8am
You are welcomed at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport by our local team and your English speaking guide and then transported by air-conditioned vehicle to Nakhon Ratchasima. Drive to the Khorat Plain in the Northeast Thailand. You will make a first stop at Prasat Hin Phamonwan, original Hindu temple, then in Ban Prasat, the oldest archaeological site in the region. Stop at the Lamtaklong Lake to admire the panoramic view. We continue to the regional capital of Nakhon Ratchasima, free time to relax. Then, discovery of Isan temples including Phimai, Phanom Rung and Muang Khaek, and Phimai National Museum for discovering the Khmer culture. Back in Nakhon Ratchasima, free dinner and visit the night bazaar of Thanin Manat.
DAY 02: NAKHON RATCHASIMA – PHANOM RUNG – MUANG TAM – BURIRAM
Free lunch and dinner - night at Buriram - 6,5h driv, 329km
Breakfast at hotel. Then, visit the Maha Wirawong National Museum, with sculpture and ceramics from Khmer and Ayutthaya periods. Drive to Phanom Rung, visit of the pottery village of Dan Kwian and the small Pak Thong Chai village, famous for silk weaving. The day will continue with a visit to Phanom Rung. This Khmer temple dominates the surrounding plain. Drive to Muang Tam, visit of the Prasat Meuang Tam built in the 11th century. This temple surrounded by water is called "the City from below", compared to Prasat Phanom Rung perched on two hills.
Free lunch. You will follow the Cambodian border and cross small villages and crops. Stop at Prasat Ta Muen Thom. These three small buildings are located in the jungle. These buildings from the 12th and early 13th centuries were built every 15 to 20 km on the main road. Then drive to Buriram, free dinner and overnight in Buriram.
DAY 03 : BURIRAM – PRASAT SI KHORAPHUM –THA TUM VILLAGE – SURIN
Free lunch and dinner - night at Surin - 4h drive, 203km
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Wat Ra Ngaeng, a small temple in Si Khoraphum. It was built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II for Hindu worship. Free lunch. Then you will discover the village of elephants in Tha Tum: member of the "Save Elephant Foundation", the "Elephant Study Center" of Surin is located in an ancient Kui village, Baan Tha Klang. In 2005, a provincial agency has launched an initiative to bring together the mahouts who often had to beg to feed their elephants with their families. The mahout must be free at least 3 hours per day and it is no longer not allow to walk with tourists. Then, visit of the Surin National Museum to discover the history of the Province and the way of life of its various ethnic groups. City walk and free dinner. Overnight in Surin.
DAY 04 : SURIN – KANTHARALAK - UBON RATCHATHANI
Free lunch and dinner - night at Ubon Ratchathani - 5h drive, 238km
Breakfast at hotel, then transfer to Kantharalak, free lunch. Visit of Khao Preah Vihear, a "Jewel of Khmer art" which is perched on a cliff overlooking the surrounding plain. The cliff on which stands the temple is sacred for centuries. The sanctuary originally dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, dates from the Koh Ker period from 928 to 944. Drive to Ubon Ratchathani, free dinner and overnight in Ubon Ratchathani.
DAY 05 : UBON RATCHATHANI – KHONG CHIAM – PHA TAEM – CHONG MEK (EMERALD TRIANGLE) – PAKSE ( LAOS )
Free lunch and dinner - 4,5h drive, 234km
Breakfast at the hotel, then explore the Supattanaram Temple and Wat Thung Sri Muang, building with stunning architecture mixing Thai, Laotian and Burmese styles. Then, visit of the National Museum, this beautiful place houses the three oldest engraved stones in the country. On the way to Khong Chiam, you will visit the Kaeng Tana National Park, its dense forest, rapid and beautiful waterfalls. Lunch during the visit. Drive to Pha Taem National Park to discover 300 rock paintings, with at its top views over Laos. Then, cruise on the Mekong River up to the Thai-Lao border to reach Pakse in Laos. Dinner and overnight at Pakse
