In 1070, Emperor Le Thanh Tong ordered the construction of a temple dedicated to Confucius. The Temple of Literature takes as its architectural model the literary pagoda of Kien Fou, the native village of Confucius. Divided into five inner courtyards, the building was the first university of Vietnam where princes and sons of mandarins came to study. It is considered to be the most successful representation of traditional Vietnamese architecture. The entrance to the monument is through the Cong Van Mieu Mon gate; a series of courtyards separated from each other by small buildings follow. Thus, the Khue Van Gac pavilion, built in 1802 in honour of the prodigious writer, connects the second to the third courtyard.

DAY 05 : NINH BINH > HALONG BAY

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure for Halong Bay! its landscape is marked by the 1969 karstic islands which led the site to be listed as World Heritage.

Halong Bay stretches over 1,500 square kilometers, with nearly 2,000 islands and islets, karstic reefs full of caverns that rise from the sea like strange sculptures. The sampans and junks gliding silently over the transparent waters reinforce this impression of unreality. Ha Long means 'the descending dragon' in Vietnamese. The legend has it that a great dragon once left his lair in the mountains to throw himself into the sea, digging deep crevices in the ground with his tail. When he plunged into the ocean, the waters flooded the crevasses creating a multitude of islands.

Board around noon on your junk and settle down in your cabin. Your cruise then begins in the bay. The setting is magical: 2,000 islands and islets within emerald waters.

Welcome drink followed by lunch on board.

In the afternoon, visit of a natural cave. Beautiful panorama of the bay at sunset.

  • Relaxation on the deck: Chill on the deck enjoying the beauty of Halong Bay or admiring dawn and dusk over the clear waters. Sunrise and sunset over the bay will remain with you forever!
  • In addition: Possibility of kayaking ( 1 kayak for 2 people). The water in Halong Bay is quite warm even in the winter, so kayaking is a pleasant experience all year round. Try to keep balanced and row for a beautiful adventure in the middle of a magical landscape.
