Chiang Rai - Tachileik – Keng Tung – Inle Lake – Yangon 

Set off to meet the different ethnic groups for unforgettable instants of sharing whilst alternating nature and encounters. Discover the mountainous landscapes of the Shan State with its rice fields’ valleys and tea plantation. Towards the end of your stay at the Inle Lake, you will get close to  the traditional lifestyle of its inhabitants. A program all about immersion.

DAY 01 : ARRIVAL TACHILEIK BORDER – KENG TUNG

Arrival at Tachileik border, where you will be warmly welcomed by your Myanmar local guide and bring to you to Keng Tung for a 3 hours drive.

Keng Tung (Kyaing Tong), which is located in the middle of a very scenic valley of eastern Shan State, surrounded by more than 2,000 m high mountains. The town is inhabited by tribal people surrounded by beautiful green mountains in a valley of rice fields. A brief tour in town will be done to show you the major sights.

Dinner free (by your own account).

DAY 02 : KENG TUNG – TREKK A HO KYIN – KENG TUNG     

Breakfast at the hotel.

Visit of Keng Tung Bazaar to observe the colourful trading of Chinese merchants and of the different minority tribes from this area.

Then, drive to the trekking point of Ho Kyin, walk through the green tea plantations in the mountains via steep and narrow roads in a lush green valley. There are four villages of Akha hill tribes, they believe in different religions (Buddhist, Animist and also Christian) and you can see them in traditional costumes. The Akha are hospitable and enjoy welcoming you to their house for a chat. At the end of the trek visit a black smith Lahu village.

Picnic Lunch will be arranged.

Transfer back to Keng Tung.

DAY 03 : KENG TUNG – PIN TAUK – KENG TUNG

Breakfast at the hotel.

Visit to Pin Tauk village, after trekking you will reach Akha and Ann tribes. Further you will explore Wan  Kan village to observe the traditional production of  Rice Wine, followed by Shan paper workshop in Wan Lau village.

Picnic Lunch will be arranged.

In the afternoon return back to Keng Tung.

DAY 04 : KENG TUNG - HEHO –  INLE LAKE

Breakfast at hotel 

Free time before your flight to Heho.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your local guide and departure towards Nyaung Shwe’s jetty.

On the way, stop for photos at the Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery, an old Burmese teak monastery with its oval windows. Built in the early 19th century, the monastery is focused on providing a home – with religious and secular education – for boys from poor families in the region.

Crossing of the lake on board on small motor boats (maximum 5 people - blankets provided to protect  from the rain or the sun) to the hotel.

Dinner free (by own arrangement).

Overnight at the hotel on Inle Lake.

DAY 05 : INLE LAKE

Breakfast at the hotel.

After breakfast, visit the five-day market (closed on full moon days).

This market moves every day, according to a schedule of 5 days and is also visited by the local population living on the lake, but also people from remote villages, who go there to sell and exchange their products.

Then to Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery, which houses dozens of Shan Buddha Images, but is more famous for its unique ‘jumping cats’ that jump through hoops in the air! Continue to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary, which contains five sacred Buddha images covered in gold leaf. 

Lunch at a local restaurant.

Explore the local crafts of the Inle Lake with a stop at the weaving village of Inpawkhone and a cheroot factory, where the typical Burmese cigars are made by hand. If time permits, there may be time to enjoy a short walk through one of the lakeside villages.

Return by boat to your hotel, located by the lake.

DAY 06 : INLE LAKE – INDEIN –INLE LAKE / HEHO - YANGON

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning, sightseeing to Indein village, the western end of the Lake. The boat takes you through a long channel where you watch the farmers cultivate their products. This ride is one of the most scenic boat tours on the Inle Lake.

Lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, departure for Heho airport for your flight to Yangon

DAY 07 : YANGON - DEPARTURE

Breakfast at the hotel.

Visit the Bogyoke Market known as the Scott Market. Its 2000 shops offer the largest selection of handicrafts and typical Burmese objects from all over the country: fabrics, precious stones (jade, rubies and sapphires), wickerwork and braided bamboo, lacquer, puppets, antiques ...

Free time for a last shop..

Transfer to Yangon airport, then assistance with check-in.
