Day 04 HPA AN


DAY 01 : YANGON International Arrival

You may arrive at any time today into Yangon international airport. On arrival at Yangon International Airport, your English speaking guide will meet you in the arrivals area of the airport, with welcome board with your name on it. You will then transfer to your hotel, by air-conditioned vehicle (transfer time approximately 1 hour).

A visit to Yangon will prove that Myanmar is one of Southeast Asia’s cultural treasures. Yangon, the former capital city of Myanmar, is the main gateway to this beautiful Southeast Asian country. Pagodas are the main tourist attractions in Yangon, but Myanmar is also well-known for good food. As Myanmar's commercial and artistic hub, it's Yangon that most reflects the changes that have occurred since the country reopened to the world. There's a rash of new restaurants, bars and shops for all to enjoy for every budget

Enjoy a walking tour in this wonderful city in the afternoon. Your walking tour will start at the entrance of Yangon Railway Station. Your guide will lead you to stairway that leads up to Pansodan Road from where you will walk down to visit the Pansodan Art Gallery as to discover some amazing art. Then continue to Bo Aung Kyaw Street and discover old Hindi buildings of around the years 1920s. Cross the road and proceed to the Historical Ministers’ Secretariat Building and where General Aung San and his ministers were assassinated in 1947. Then stroll down to Bogalay Zay Street and try a Burmese authentic snack before visiting the Armenian Church. Continue to the Yangon Post Office and walk along Strand road. Take a break and sip on a cocktail at the legendary Strand Hotel. Continue your walk to Bank Street, which is the legal district of the city. It covers top sites in the central part of the city, including the High Court, the Immanuel Baptist Church, the City Hall and Sule Pagoda.

Then, you will be transferred to the emblem of the country the Shwedagon Pagoda. Walk, to the sound of the bells and incantations of the faithful, at the foot of the huge golden stupa that the last gleam of the sun glows with a thousand lights.

Drive to Kyaikhtiyo, home of the famed Golden Rock. On the way, visit the local market of Bago.

Lunch FREE – At your own expense.

After a roughly 5-hour drive, you’ll arrive at Kyaiktiyo Base Camp in the late morning. Transfer to local open-air bus for the drive up to the trailhead that leads to Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, which houses the Golden Rock.

At the trailhead, you’ll leave your shoes behind and walk barefoot to the Golden Rock, as per local custom.

Golden Rock, a huge boulder balanced on the edge of a cliff and covered in gold leaf, is one of Myanmar’s most famous pilgrimage sites. It is believed that the boulder rests on a strand of Buddha’s hair. Buddhists from across the country travel here to pay their respects and make merit.

Breakfast at Hotel

After breakfast, climb down by local truck to Kinpum base camp, then take the road to Hpa An (about 3h).

Hpa An, the capital of Kayin State, is a picturesque city located on the eastern shore of Thanlwin and surrounded by mountains. You will enjoy exploring the surrounding caves and its relaxed atmosphere.

Discovery of Kawgun Cave, a fantastic hidden gem where hundreds of small clay Buddhas cover the walls and top of the cave. Continue your visit to Yathaypyan Cave and Saddan Cave at the end of which you will come out in small boat.

Your afternoon will be punctuated by visits to the following sites:
- Kyauk Kalat, stupa built on a rock in the middle of a lake. From its top you can enjoy a view of the surrounding countryside.

- Mount Zwekabin, the highest in the region that rises above the rice fields. You will visit its garden which houses Buddha statues.

Breakfast at Hotel

After breakfast, you will depart to the starting point of kayaking near Kawkathaung Cave. The host will treat green tea and snacks before you paddle.

Paddling around an hour in the lake with beautiful sceneries, leave the kayak at the bridge which connected to local Kayin villages. You will see the villagers fishing, collecting vegetables, feeding household animals and farming.

After an hour walk, you will arrive to Latkhana village, where still leave old men with traditionally knotted hair. Visit one local house and try yourself to learn local dialect and share some words with the villagers.

Then you will leave the village and walk back to another village. Take a rest and enjoy traditional home cooked lunch at local house.

After lunch, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Breakfast at Hotel

Visit the colorful market of Hpa An, then transfer by car to Yangon. After 5hr drive, stop at Bago ancient capital of the Mon kingdom.

Visit the imposing Shwemawdaw Pagoda with its golden stupa, the reclining Buddha of Shwethalyaung and the four immense Buddhas sitting and backing. Arrival in Yangon.

According to your international flight Schedule, Transfer to Yangon International Airport.

Given the traffic jams in Yangon it is necessary to plan at least 2h to rally the city center and the airport and it is necessary to be 2 hours before the take-off at the airport at the latest.
