DAY 01 : LUANG PRABANG INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL

Sabaidee! Welcome to Luang Prabang - an ancient royal capital nestled at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers and encircled by misty mountains.

Upon arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, after clearing all customs procedures, please proceed to exit gate and look for your guide who will be waiting at the lobby, holding the welcome signboard with your name on it. Your guide will come to meet you up and transfer you to hotel.

The regular check-in time is at 14:00; early check-in is not included and subject to availability.

As dusk was falling, take part in one of the most important ceremonies in Laos culture. Baci ceremony is usually held to celebrate special events, such as: a marriage, homecoming, or departure. At the ceremony, an elder will wrap a white cotton thread around your wrist while chanting an invocation to strengthen the power of the well-wishing and blessing. Take your time to enjoy this authentic experience before transferring to a local restaurant for dinner with traditional Laos music and dance.

Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 02 : LUANG PRABANG Royal Capital Cycling Tour Hands-on Family Tye-dye Class

Breakfast at the hotel.

09:00, meet your guide at the hotel lobby and start your city tour. Once the ancient royal capital of the Lan Xang Kingdom, Luang Prabang now stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

First visit to Royal Palace as well-known as a national museum to discover the official spaces and the royal family. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it housed the royal family until the abolition of the monarchy in 1975. It is possible The Phra Bang, the Buddha statue that gave the city its name, is housed in a recent chapel built in the gardens of the Palace.

Then continue with Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham, or Wat Mai (which translates into The New Monastery) is one of the largest and possibly the most picturesque temples in Luang Prabang. Located on Sisavong Road, next to the Royal Palace Museum, it is an important temple for both its religious purpose and for its beauty.

Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, visit the Ock Pop Tok Living Craft Centre. Meaning “East Meets West” in Lao, this is an artisan social enterprise which was founded on the principles of fair trade and sustainable business practices and the original concept was to bring people together through textiles to exchange knowledge and ideas. It’s time to do something different for the entire family to enjoy! Hands-on to prepare natural dyes using the plants from the craft garden and follow the traditional Lao recipes to tie-dye a t-shirt using a variety of patterns.

Lastly, challenge yourself to climb 300-steps up Mount Phousi, a sacred hill located in the centre of the peninsula. From its summit, enjoy a panoramic view of the city, the Mekong and the surrounding mountains as an award for the brave.

Return to your hotel and the remainder of the day is free at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 03 : LUANG PRABANG – Picturesque Kuang Si Waterfalls and Peaceful Eden Farm

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide at the lobby and head southern to discover jungle walks and turquoise pools. With its ice-blue waters, multi-tiered cascades and jungle canopies, Kuang Si Waterfall is one of the finest day trips from Luang Prabang. Let take it slow and experience the wonderful, tropical countryside that surrounds the heritage town. Climb to the top of the three-tiered falls for spectacular views. Go on and take a refreshing swim in one of the natural pools.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, reach the Mekong shore and cruise back to Luang Prabang. On the way, you will stop at Mekong Eden Farm, a charming hidden garden in the forest and be greeted by Om, a young Laotian, biologist of formation and passionate of plants and agriculture.

Do an ecological tour of his garden and witness his passion and how much he loves sharing his knowledge on agriculture to other Laotians. Put on a straw hat, follow Om and discover the biodiversity of farming species of vegetables, herbs and fruits in his garden. You will learn natural farming techniques and the food ecosystem of sub-tropical environment.

Later, return to your hotel and overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 04 :  LUANG PRABANG – NAHM DONG PARK "Back to Nature"

After breakfast, check out and meet your guide at the lobby. Get ready for a “in the middle of the jungle” adventure day.

Depart Luang Prabang for a 10-kilometre drive to the fantastic Nahm Dong Nature Park where offers a stunning waterfall, breath-taking valley views and plenty of places to picnic. Covers 18 hectares of beautiful plants, lush greenery, exquisite flora and fauna and rushing waters, this place is spotted with cosy picnic places, some under straw huts, some in flower gardens. Warm up your body and be well instructed before taking a 6-stage zip line course (including a stretch of 300m in length) that will rekindle both beginners and experienced, thrills guaranteed!

Here you will stay for lunch. Then go hiking further on unique trails along the perimeter of the forest and waterfall, passing through fields of verdant rice paddies and other scenes of rural life. Make a pause at a local ethnic village where have been rehabilitated traditional habitats of different minorities in the region. Don’t forget your swimsuit as you will have an opportunity to cool off in its reinvigorating waters.

After an exhilarating time in the jungle, let do a 30-minute walk to your lodge. On arrival, check in and leisurely relax for energy recovery.

Optional: Pony Riding Experience at Hillside Lodge

Kids are welcome to meet and become friends with the lodge’s Vietnamese Hmong ponies: Jake and Elwood. Create a memorable experience by grooming, cuddling, feeding and riding around the lodge in approximate 30 minutes. Be reassured of supervising by qualified personnel so previous experience is not required. This activity is suitable for most children 4-16 years old and adults (max 60kg weight and 150cm height). Please book and pay directly at the lodge reception.

  • Zip-line activity’s important notes: Participants must be between 6 kg and 120 kg - including clothing/footwear. Not recommended for expectant mothers or people with spinal injuries. Zip-lines run during inclement weather. Guests under 18 years of age are required a legal parent/guardian to sign the exclusion of liability waiver prior to the activity. There is special equipment for kids from 3 years old. Lines are up to 50m.

DAY 05 : NAHM DONG PARK Rice Planning and Homestay - NAM XUANG RIVER

08:00, check out and meet your guide at the lobby. Depart to the Living Land Farm by a 30-minute drive from the lodge, to discover and participate in all stages of rice cultivation. Living Land is a tourism community project led by the dynamic Mountains Launt these last few years - Through this activity, Living Land campaigns for a rational cultivation of rice without the use of pesticides and finances English courses and tutoring for 7 students from neighbouring villages selected at the beginning of the year by the professors according to their merit and all coming from families in difficulties.

Then, drive northern until you reach a small village near the Nam Xuang River and settle at homestay. Your afternoon discovery begins with a walk tour in the orchards and surrounding gardens. Then embark a small pirogue for a boat trip on the Nam Xuang River to explore local fishing techniques and gold panning (seasonal activity). Later, return to the village and witness a demonstration of Khene Hmong Dance (subject to availability). And may you will volunteer for dinner preparation.

Relax at leisure and enjoy dinner at the restaurant.

DAY 06 : NAM XUANG RIVER - Ban Xan Khong - Ban Xieng Lek - Petanque Family Fun - LUANG PRABANG

Around 05:30, wake up before dawn to witness and participate in Tak Bat offering alms at a local pagoda to gain a deeper understanding about a living Buddhist tradition for the people of Laos and dates back generations. If you wish to make an offering, please inform your guide a day in advance so that a gift of alms can be prepared. If you do not wish to make an offering, please keep an appropriate distance and observe the ritual in silence.

After breakfast, check out and meet your guide at the lobby. Start your exploration to learn about this petit village, its habitat and traditional activities as weaving, basket making, netting, embroidery and some more seasonal gold panning.

Return to Luang Prabang and make a stop en-route at the villages of Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xieng Lek, two weaving villages where a number of papermaking factories have also been established. Head to Mrs Deuane's place - a traditional Lao house located on the banks of the Mekong River.

Enjoy a traditional lunch overlooking the Mekong with tasty Laotian foods.

After lunch, take your break time playing Pétanque with some neighbours who might want to join for fun time sharing. Be advised that Laotians are not outdone at the Pétanque - the popular national sport and very well practiced in this country.

Later, transfer to your hotel in Luang Prabang. Check in and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

DAY 07 : LUANG PRABANG International Departure

Free time at leisure until check out by 12:00 and meet your guide at the hotel lobby. Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your departure flight.
