DAY 01 : LUANG PRABANG International Arrival

Sabaidee! Welcome to Luang Prabang - an ancient royal capital nestled at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers and encircled by misty mountains.

Upon arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, after clearing all customs procedures, please proceed to exit gate and look for your guide who will be waiting at the lobby, holding the welcome signboard with your name on it. Your guide will come to meet you up and transfer you to hotel.

The regular check-in time is at 14:00; early check-in is not included and subject to availability.

Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 02 : LUANG PRABANG Heritage of Ancient Royal Capital

Breakfast at the hotel.

09:00, meet your guide at the hotel lobby and start your city tour. Once the ancient royal capital of the Lan Xang Kingdom, Luang Prabang now stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

First visit to Royal Palace as well-known as a national museum to discover the official spaces and the royal family. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it housed the royal family until the abolition of the monarchy in 1975. It is possible The Phra Bang, the Buddha statue that gave the city its name, is housed in a recent chapel built in the gardens of the Palace. Then visit Wat Visoun - the oldest temple in the city with a unique style. Its window balusters make a nod to the Khmer style of Vat Phou in Champassak, and That Makmo - its stupa with the characteristic shape of watermelon.

Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant.

Your afternoon will begin with Museum T.A.E.C, whose collection allows to discover the great diversity and cultural richness of the different ethnic groups living in Laos (Laos, Hmong, Tai, Kamu, Akha). This museum is supported by a NGO in Australia and is financed solely by donations from individuals, entrance fees and activities proposed in situ.

Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham, or Wat Mai (which translates into The New Monastery) is one of the largest and possibly the most picturesque temples in Luang Prabang. Located on Sisavong Road, next to the Royal Palace Museum, it is an important temple for both its religious purpose and for its beauty.

Continue to Wat That Luang and Wat Xieng Thong beforeclimbing 300-steps up Mount Phousi, a sacred hill located in the centre of the peninsula. From its summit, it offers a panoramic view of the city, the Mekong and the surrounding mountains - such an award for the brave.

Return to your hotel and the remainder of the day is free at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 03 : LUANG PRABANG - PAKBENG En-route Pak Ou Caves

Breakfast at the hotel.

07:00, meet your guide at the lobby after checking out. A bit farewell to Luang Prabang and drive to the city pier.

Head north on a river boat and pass by typical Laotian villages along the way. At the mouth of the Nam Ou River, we arrive at the famous Pak Ou Caves. Perched high on a limestone cliff on a river islet, these two limestone grottoes house around 4,000 multi-sized Buddhist statues and images. Worshippers, including Lao royalty, have visited this revered cave-temple for centuries.

In the midway between the World Heritage town of Luang Prabang and Huay Xai, Sanctuary Pakbeng Lodge is peacefully sitting on the bank of the Mekong and offering a fantastic view of the pristine nature.

Approximate 17:00 in the afternoon, arrive at the beautiful wood lodge and check in. Leisurely relax in your traditional bamboo-decorated room or refresh your energy by a hot shower.

As the sun dips behind the mountains at the river's edge, fulfil your day with a cosy dinner at the Moonlight restaurant.

Nighty night and overnight in Pakbeng.

DAY 04 :  PAKBENG A Very Special Day at Mekong Elephant Park

As to make your off-the-beaten-track experience complete, your morning will be devoted to meet the old and faithful inhabitants of Laos: our venerable and respected friends the pachyderms!

After breakfast, meet your guide at the lobby with comfort outfit to get ready for today outdoor exploration.

Often sold to zoos and circuses, worked to the bone in the logging industry or vulnerable to poachers, elephants are at risk throughout Southeast Asia.

Located just opposite the lodge and departure point of dugout canoe transfers crossing the river, Mekong Elephant Park is dedicated to the protection of elephants and offers a wonderful opportunity to discover the life of an animal important in Lao culture.

In the first 15 minute, meet the mahouts and get to know their elephants as a witness of their strong relationship built for years.

Then, stroll alongside the elephants through the lush green vegetation and bamboo forest. Relax and be patient as the elephants might stop to eat some bamboo leaves on the way.

After 1.5-hour walk, spend 20 minutes by giving the elephants an enjoyable morning bath (potentially a splashy affair).

Have fun and enjoy a privileged moment of great complicity for the mahouts and their giant friends.

“It’s time for lunch, big guys!” let make friends forever with some good treats for their lunch.

Enjoy lunch at the park restaurant before returning to your lodge on the other side of the river bank.

Relax at leisure and enjoy dinner at the restaurant.

DAY 05 : PAKBENG A Day of "Farm-to-Table" Laotian Flavours

After breakfast, get ready at the lobby.

This morning, wing your way to a local market where you will meet local people, explore local cultures, sample and learn about some common ingredients used in Lao cuisine and watch the buying and selling rituals of a morning rural market. Return to the lodge with the ingredients you purchased before heading to its earthbound garden to harvest some more fresh organic vegetables. Learn about the distinctive Laotian cuisines and kitchen traditions from a friendly Chef. Savour your own culinary creations with a hands-on cooking class which can be later enjoyed amongst the peaceful countryside scenery.

In the afternoon, you will leave for an easy walk (approximate 3 hours) with some steep passages through the forest to meet the inhabitants of a Kamu village. On the way back, pause at Vat Si Chom Cheng where offers a panorama view of the Mekong and its surroundings.

Relax at leisure and enjoy dinner at the restaurant.

Overnight in Pakbeng.

DAY 06 : FROM PAKBENG TO LUANG PRABANG

After breakfast, check out and meet your guide at the lobby.

Farewell to the lovely countrified people before embark a local boat cruising downriver.

Enjoy a lunch on-board.

Upon arrival at Luang Prabang’s pier, meet your drive to be transferred to the hotel. Check in and relax at leisure.

Return to your hotel and the remainder of the day is free at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
