DAYS Summary

On arrival, you are greeted by your English-speaking guide. After a quick transfer by a vehicle, you set off directly to explore the countryside on mountain bikes (child seat and trailer available). You ride on the laterite tracks bordered by coconut and bamboo trees that crisscross the countryside. At the end of a sandy track, you will discover a pagoda and its small Angkorian temple. You reach a hamlet hidden in the middle of the rice fields. Discovery of artisanal basketry traditions and stop at the last village elders who still wear traditional clothes. You will continue this journey with the preparation of your lunch. A Cambodian chef will introduce you to the preparation of typical dishes such as green mango salad, Amok or even traditional soup.

At noon you will taste the prepared dishes.

In the afternoon you leave the bikes and take your vehicle to cross the flooded and fertile areas and reach the Tonle Sap Lake, the largest lake in Southeast Asia. You then embark on a wooden boat to discover the lake and its floating houses in the lakeside village of Metchrey. Observation of different fishing techniques as well as crocodile and fish breeding. You continue your navigation to reach the lake which extends as far as the eye can see before returning to your vehicle.

DAY 02 : SIEM REAP – Temples & NGO

Breakfast at the B&B

Depart with tuk tuk from your hotel to reach the archaeological site early in the morning to discover the Preah Khan temple. Enigmatic from many points of view, it was built by King Jayavarman VII who dedicated it to his father.

Here the stone and the roots of the century-old cheesemakers are intertwined. You continue on a laterite track through the forest to reach the small temple of Ta Nei nestled in the heart of lush greenery.

Then, you reach the temple of Ta Prohm, "the ancestor Brahma", to take advantage of magic moments in this temple which was left, partly, in a state of nature in order to preserve the memory of its discovery by early explorers revealed the city of Angkor to the West.

Lunch at a local restaurant on site.

The afternoon is devoted to the discovery of two rather astonishing humanitarian organizations.

Eco-soap bank, working to save, sanitize, and supply recycled hotel soap for the developing world. They not only reduce waste but mainly contribute to a highly cost-effective hygiene product to improve health. You will join the workshop that also provides livelihoods to disadvantaged women.

Apopo, a demining center that uses ... giant rats also called HeroRats! You will be greeted at their visitor center before experiencing the realities of humanitarian demining and how they train rats to save lives. You will learn about the mine clearance process and enjoy a video before getting back to your hotel.

Dinner - FREE - at your own expense.

A walk will take you to the base camp where the group (12 people max.) will receive the first instructions for this morning dedicated to meeting the last captive elephants of Cambodia (14 on-site, out of 75 captive elephants in whole Cambodia). With the help of your local Cambodian guide, you will be able to approach them safely while walking on the 445 hectares of the protected site (slow walk-in animal company 1h). The preparation of the meal of the pachyderms will be an opportunity to discover the different plantations and seasonal crops.

Lunch at the community base.

You travel by car with your guide to reach the small temple of Banteay Srei, a gem of 10th century Khmer art, with beautiful carved pink sandstone. And your day will end with a sun set at the most majestic temple, Angkor Wat. From there King Suryavarman II reigned over the Kingdom of Cambodia from 1113 to 1152.
